CurrentBody LED mask: Series 1, 2 and 3 compared, and which one to buy

CurrentBody sells three generations of LED face mask at once, plus neck masks, an acne mask, a hair helmet and a panel. What changes from Series 1 to Series 3 (wavelengths, LED count, the app), which ones hold an FDA clearance we could find, where each is sold, and which we would buy.

Short answer

CurrentBody’s Series 2 mask uses 633, 830 and 1072 nm from 236 LEDs, 10 minutes a session, FDA-cleared as K250966, at $469.99 on its US store (1 November 2026). Series 3 adds four more wavelengths you assign in an app, for $569.99. Series 1 (633 and 830 nm, 132 LEDs) is sold on Amazon by CurrentBody’s parent company.

CurrentBody is a retailer that became a device maker. Its parent, The Beauty Tech Group, sells other brands’ devices alongside its own, and its own LED masks now come in three generations sold at the same time. That is useful if you know which generation you are looking at, and confusing if you do not, which is most of the reason people search the name. This page sorts them out.

Two things in that table are worth slowing down for. The panel is the only CurrentBody device with a published irradiance, 12.64 mW/cm², which is low for a panel and tells you nothing about the masks. And Series 3’s Amazon listing says six wavelengths where the US store lists seven; we report the store’s list and note the difference.

Series 1 vs Series 2 vs Series 3

Series 1 is the original: red at 633 nm and near-infrared at 830 nm, 66 LEDs of each, the same pair and count as the Omnilux Contour. It is no longer in CurrentBody’s US store, and still sold on Amazon by the brand’s parent company. We found no FDA clearance for it.

Series 2 adds 1072 nm, a deeper near-infrared, and nearly doubles the LED count. It is the CurrentBody mask with the clearance we could match, K250966, decided 25 June 2025. More LEDs and a third wavelength do not by themselves mean more effect; without an irradiance figure, the dose is the unknown that decides it. Our Omnilux vs CurrentBody page weighs it against the Omnilux in detail.

Series 3 is a different idea: 750 LEDs and seven wavelengths, including 415 nm blue for acne and 532 nm green and 590 nm amber for tone, which you assign per LED in CurrentBody’s app, with four presets and space for custom modes. The FDA lists a CurrentBody Skin LED Multi Light Therapy Mask (MK-110D) as K260715, decided June 2026, which may be this mask; neither the listing nor the store gives a model number we could match, so we do not assume it.

Which CurrentBody mask to buy

  • For wrinkles and tone, the safest pick is Series 2: three wavelengths, a clearance you can check, a hundred dollars less than Series 3. It is sold on CurrentBody’s own store; we did not find it on Amazon from the brand.
  • For the lowest price with the original wavelengths, Series 1 on Amazon, below. No clearance, no irradiance, the same two wavelengths as Omnilux.
  • For acne as well as aging, Series 3, whose blue LEDs can be pointed at breakouts. If acne is the only goal, the $379.99 blue light mask is the cheaper tool, though we found no clearance for it.

CurrentBody on Amazon

Sold by The Beauty Tech Group, CurrentBody’s parent company, when we checked on 1 November 2026. The CurrentBody neck masks, the 4-in-1 mask and the eye device were on Amazon only from third-party sellers with a few units left; we do not link those.

Our pick · A stated dose: 18 J/cm² at 660 nm Amazon

CurrentBody LED hair regrowth helmet, S/M

The CurrentBody device that states its dose: 120 LEDs at 660 nm deliver 18 J/cm² per session, the listing says, used 10 minutes daily with results claimed at 16 weeks, and FDA-cleared; the FDA lists a CurrentBody Skin LED Hair Regrowth (MZ-07) as K230336, likely this helmet. This link is the small-to-medium size (21.3 to 23.1 inch heads); a medium-to-large is sold alongside it. Our hair loss guide covers what the evidence supports. Sold by The Beauty Tech Group.

What we have not measured

We have not measured any CurrentBody device. Wavelengths, LED counts and session times are CurrentBody’s, from its US store and Amazon listings on 1 November 2026; prices are its US store’s the same day; clearances are from the FDA database the same day, and where we say “likely” or “possibly” we could not match a model number.

The measurement that would answer whether Series 2 and Series 3 are worth their difference over Series 1: each mask on the same head form, a calibrated spectroradiometer at the forehead, cheeks and chin, ten minutes each. That would show the real irradiance at the skin, whether the 1072 nm LEDs deliver anything measurable, and how evenly 750 LEDs cover a face compared with 132. One unit each, n=1. The full mask comparison, with the brands that do publish their dose, is on the best red light therapy mask.

Questions buyers actually ask

Which CurrentBody mask is best?

For most people, Series 2: 633, 830 and 1072 nm from 236 LEDs, 10-minute sessions, and an FDA clearance we could match (K250966), at $469.99 on CurrentBody's US store on 1 November 2026. Series 3 adds blue, green, amber and deep red you can assign per LED in an app, for $569.99. Series 1, the original 633 and 830 nm mask, is no longer in the US store but is still sold on Amazon by CurrentBody's parent company.

Is CurrentBody FDA cleared?

The Series 2 face mask is: K250966, decided 25 June 2025. The FDA also lists a CurrentBody multi-light mask (K260715, June 2026), a 4-in-1 zone mapping mask (K242593) and a hair regrowth helmet (K230336). We found no clearance for Series 1, and could not confirm which clearance, if any, covers Series 3.

What is the difference between CurrentBody Series 1 and Series 2?

Series 1 uses two wavelengths, 633 nm red and 830 nm near-infrared, from 132 LEDs. Series 2 adds a 1072 nm deep near-infrared wavelength and raises the count to 236 LEDs. Both run 10-minute sessions three to five times a week. CurrentBody states no irradiance for either.

Is the CurrentBody mask on Amazon?

Series 1 and Series 3 are sold on Amazon by The Beauty Tech Group, CurrentBody's parent company, as of 1 November 2026, and so is the hair regrowth helmet. We did not find Series 2 or the neck masks sold there by the brand; the neck mask listings were on third-party sellers.
